Datchworth U14's v Hitchin A U14's

The under 14’s went down heavily to Hitchin A’s.

The fixture was always going to prove tough after Hitchin decided to send an A team instead of the mixed side as planned. Against the elements in the first half and despite conceding a simple try, the Hitchin number 8 picking up the ball from the base of a scrum and running in from the 22, Datchworth defended with real spirit to keep the score to a respectable level.

Hopes of getting back into the game with a slight breeze and the slope soon faded as the visitors took advantage of some missed tackles to score more tries. Datchworth did get one score back with the hard running Sam Elvery again proving unstoppable from short distance.
There were some good displays with Christopher Saunders deserving a special mention for his efforts throughout the game.
