The u 14’s were in County Cup semi final action against Old Albanians B and despite a strong finish to the game lost 22 – 12.
The home side took the lead in the first half against a strong cold wind and held a lead throughout the game. Datchworth’s smaller pack did very well at the scrum and secured good ball but the bigger Albanians side played well in the loose and mauled very well, and their backs were slightly stronger on the day except for the outstanding Theo Wise who again put in a man of the match performance for his try but also superb defence.
The champagne moment went to Tom Howard for a brave last line tackle which prevented a runaway try, although he wasn’t there to collect his Mars Bar Dominic Negri happily obliged as he was rewarded for an athletic run which started a flowing passage of play which led to a penalty try for Datchworth which may have sparked an unlikely win but Albanians hit back to secure their deserved place in the final.
