Datch u14s v Luton - 09/10/2016 – Lost 40-26
Datch battled hard in this game but ultimately came up just short, they did run in four tries to bag themselves a bonus point (that is if bonus points were on offer!).
Datch again moved the ball well all game and Nick and Ollie linked well at 9 and 10 to release attack after attack.
Harry and Rhys both had a strong game in the centres and Rhys was able to show his pace to to go over for 2 well taken tries.
We led 19-12 at half time and played into a strong wind in the 2nd half which along with the rather large Luton chaps made the going hard.
Ben capped a strong running game with a try and Daniel capped a great team move to complete the Datch scoring. Angus added three conversions.
The effort levels could not be faulted and there were some outstanding tackles from a number of the team : Angus' tap tackle from full back stopped a certain try , Ollie's tackle and steal was sublime. Tackle of the day went to Finn when he cut down the much larger attacker with a textbook effort.
The scrum went well and provided solid ball all day with Oscar and Elliot both covering the hard yards all game.
Daniel capped a fine team move to complete the scoring.
Summary
Cannot fault the effort levels but we need to work on our line speed in defense in order to make life easier for ourselves.
Man of the Match to Finn for excellent running and the Tackle of the Day.
