Datchworh U14s v Bishops Stortford -26/02/2017

This was clearly a game of two halves!

Datch started the game with the wind and played free flowing Rugby to move the ball wide at every opportunity.

2 tries each were scored by Euan (on his debut) and Rhys who both showed strength and pace to cross the try line. 2 Conversions were added by Angus. 24-0 up at half time.

We competed well at the breakdown and turned the ball over on a number of occasions (both Ollie B and Olly Tatlow winning the ball back in key positions).

Finn showed his pace and was stopped just short on a number of times.

The defensive line worked well to press and the back line was ably led by Brandon at fly half. Nick capped a fine game with some strong tackling and a sweet break.

Elliot and the Chuckle Brothers (Ben & Oscar) had strong games to help Datch to a healthy first half lead.

The 2nd half was a different story as we conceded 2 tries but we showed real determination and grit to end the game pressing for a further score to end the possibility of any further Stortford tries.

Summary

We showed real spirit and heart in this game and need to ensure that we take this forward into the last few games of the season.

We competed well at the breakdown and turned the ball over well BUT we also failed to get the ball to ground on a number of occasions so need to work on our body position against larger opposition.

Man of the Match went to Euan for his 2 tries, strong running and all on his Datch debut.
