Ruislip v Datchworth

Datchworth (14) 14 v. 34 (27) Ruislip Match Abandoned.

A difficult game against a team with one standout player, who scored or made all their points. Our forwards more than held their own, and were exerting a dominance over a team 4 pools above them. Without their No 11, who just ran through Datchworth like a hot knife through butter, we could have got a very creditable result here. The Ruislip coaches commented in the bar afterwards that they thought we were way too low in the rankings, for the standard of rugby we played. They also commented that their star player does not like being tackled, so it should be easy to take him out of the game.

Unfortunately the match had to be abandoned early in the second half, following a serious neck injury to Luca. He was eventually flown by air ambulance to The Royal London Hospital. Thankfully no lasting damage but Mum got a fantastic Mother’s Day present of a free helicopter flight over London.

DOTD was Tom for a ridiculous attempt at a clearance kick.

Next Sunday sees us take on Kilburn Cosmos in our last pool fixture of the season. We are undefeated in the pools so let’s get back to winning ways!
