On a gloriously sunny morning, and having the honour of playing on the beautifully kept first team pitch, the boys put on a fantastic display to get the best possible start to the 2017/2018 season, securing a dominant clean sheet win against Tabard.
The Datch pack was on fire today, winning scrum after scrum and setting up some great possession to allow the backs to carry out move after move. Defence was strong, and attack was clinical with great ruck work and strong tackling, even on their gigantic player who looked like he could easily play for their firsts!
Tries were aplenty, with Josh Staddon taking a hat trick, Will Goff getting a brace, and Will Field and Connor Attoe getting one each. Some fantastic handling skills were on show, with quick hands and set moves straight from the training ground, with the boys running some lovely angles. Danny Hay's boot was near faultless, taking 6 of his 7 conversions on the morning, nailing them even from near the touchline on a couple of occasions.
Man of the match went to Josh Bradley for a brilliant display of powerful rugby from the Loosehead Prop, with some excellent runs and tireless work in the scrums.
