Datch find the going tough

Firstly , we all wish Kieran a speedy recovery after his incident. Thanks to all who helped organize the ambulance and get the paramedics onto the field. Fingers crossed he will soon be back on the field.

We played two games against what I believe were the A and B (?) Old Albanian teams.

Game 1 - Datch v OAs – lost 30-0

This was a strong OAs side that ran in 6 unanswered tries (I think) although Datch did not stop trying until the final whistle.

Its not often there is a bigger player on the park than Kieran but OAs do possess such a player! There was a particular fine tackle from Will and Ollie B to bring him down just short of the line, a very courageous tackle.

Datch were always on the back foot in this game against a well drilled OAs defence but we continued to run the ball, Oliver Tatlow and Ollie B running strongly all game.

It was good to see both wings get some ball and Nicholas was able to cut down inside on a number of occasions to find the supporting players.

Matthew showed his strength in the contact area and carried the ball well.

Pierce was able to get his hands on the ball and was able to help move the ball well plus tackled well.

Paddy came on in the 2nd half and put in some fine tackles and was his usual aggressive self!!

Ultimately this was a strong OAs side but we made them work for each try and the players continued to battle all game!

Game 2 - Datch v OAs – drew 5-5

This was a close game with 2 evenly matched teams. Datch were able to get some decent scrum and line out ball from which they launched attack after attack.

Pierce showed his versatility by going from front row to 2nd row and had another solid game.

Angus was able to cross the line for a well taken try after a solid Datch scrum left a massive hole which Angus gratefully picked and went through!

Elliot and Oliver T carried the ball strongly and broke the gain line on numerous occasions.

Tommy showed his strength with a number of solid runs. Will and Ollie B tackled and rucked well to help secure the ball for Datch.

The draw was a fair result in the end as the teams were equally committed.

Man of the Match

This week goes to Pierce for strong running and good linking play.
