Friendly Match v Chess Valley

Well it was a tough match but the team were fantastic! Chess Valley arrived with a good-sized squad - enough to make 5 substitutions during the match! The match was hard-fought and the Datchworth scrum surpassed themselves - they were brilliant. It was 5 - 12 at half-time but that didn't dampen spirits and the second half was just as exciting. Datchworth played their most outstanding play to date but were just outplayed on the day, mainly in the rucks. The final score was 12 - 26. Chess Valley scored 4 tries with three conversions; Datchworth scored two tries (Stephen) with James Jarvis converting the second try. Coach was thrilled with the play and enthusiastically congratulated the whole team. Player of the Week went to Sam Kleanthous and Player(s) of the Month for January went jointly to Lewis Gibbs and Jake Okines. These awards were based on the fantastic improvement in the front row and the way they played on Sunday - Well done all.
