U12s Boys grab a respectable 3rd place in international tournament

Hot off the back of their final minis Holt tour, the U12s travelled to Belgium to take part in the Boitsfort RFC international tournament in May.

Arriving at our hostel on the Friday night the boys settled into the sports facilities on offer before retiring for the night. Saturday morning we were picked up and taken to the Royal Kituro RFC in Brussels where we were very well looked after and trained with the local team, finishing with a friendly and some well earned refreshments before heading off to spend the afternoon sampling the chocolate and beers Belgium is so famous for.

On the Sunday we travelled to Boitsfort RFC where 25 teams from across Europe took part in a full action packed day of rugby. Datchworth comfortably made it to the semi-finals, playing on grass with cool, overcast conditions it was perfect rugby weather. When it came to the semi-finals we were on the 3G pitch and the sun had come out in full force. A hot and tired Datchworth team played their hearts out and against a tough German team, was finally pipped by 1 try.

Great sportsmanship from all sides and we ended up receiving silverware for our third place.

The boys did us all proud and certainly put Datchworth on the map.

Here’s looking forward to next year's tour!
