Datchworth U13 Rugby Tour – Amsterdam 2025
The Datchworth U13 squad embarked on an unforgettable rugby adventure to Amsterdam, and what a tour it was! Sixteen brave young warriors, full of energy and team spirit, journeyed to the Netherlands for a weekend of competition, camaraderie, and celebration.
Base Camp: Center Parcs
The team stayed at the picturesque Center Parcs, nestled in the Dutch countryside. The accommodation was perfect for the squad – complete with plenty of swimming opportunities and even a “Swinckel train” that proved a huge hit, keeping everyone entertained and energized between matches.
Saturday Showdown
On Saturday, Datchworth faced off against a tough local side. Undaunted and fiercely focused, the boys played some of their finest rugby to date, dominating the pitch and running out victorious with a convincing 52–17 win. The hosts, RC Bulldogs in Almere, showed incredible hospitality, offering warm welcomes, post-match treats, and while some post match refreshments were being taken in by parents and coaches the boys took it upon themselves to join up once again with the host team for a hour of touch rugby, in a fantastic spirit of rugby friendship.
Sunday at the Hilversum Festival
Sunday brought the main event – the sun was shining on the prestigious Hilversum Rugby Festival, one of Europe’s largest junior rugby gatherings. With 75 teams from across the globe in attendance, the atmosphere was electric and the competition fierce.
Datchworth U13s rose to the occasion, facing two strong Dutch teams and two formidable English sides. Each game was a test of character, teamwork, and determination. In the final match – a hard-fought, bitter battle – the boys dug deep and emerged triumphant, securing their place as festival champions.
Heroes All
Every player was a hero. From the opening whistle to the final try, the team displayed heart, discipline, and true sportsmanship. Coaches, parents, and supporters could not have been prouder of how the boys represented Datchworth on the international stage.
Home as Champions
The return home was sweet – with tired legs, beaming smiles, and memories that will last a lifetime. Datchworth U13s came back not just as rugby players, but as a team of champions.
