It was also an important milestone for the club as Datchworth Girls fielded a full u16s XV made entirely of our own players… and with some subs too! It turns out that this was also the case for Harlow. A great day for girls rugby.

Datchworth opened the scoring early in the first half with a great break by Claudia after catching a very low pass. Superb handling skills, followed by a powerful run around the outside of the last defenders and coming back to score under the posts. Converted by Charlotte who is making a solid claim for the regular kicker spot.

Harlow struck back twice to take the lead and put the girls in green under pressure. Mimi then started our recovery to give us another try before half-time with a strong break through the defence, fending off the closest threat.

Mimi continued to featured heavily in our attacking play in the second half, making some excellent carries and setting Katie up for our third try of the morning.

After an intense battle, Kayla then put some distance between the sides with our final try. A great rip after a joint tackle with Katie, and Kayla was off under the posts.

Harlow had the final say with a last minute try leaving the score 24-19 to Datchworth.

Aside from the win, we made some real progress today. Every single player made a valuable contribution to the result which is fantastic to see. It was a real struggle to pick our Player of the Match but in the end went to Mimi for an impressive display in both attack and defence.

Our defensive line is now looking pretty decent and the players are keeping a good formation in defence throughout the phases. Excellent work! The next progression will be to get that line to move forward to shut down the attack early.

We had 2 players making their debut after only joining us 2 weeks ago on our recruitment day. Welcome to the family, Evie and Gracie. You are already making a positive difference to the squad.
