On a cold but sunny January afternoon, Datchworth succumbed to a strong Finchley performance in North London. Finchley aided their promotional push with some impressive rugby and leave Datchworth in a somewhat precarious position in the league.
It was Datchworth that started the brighter however couldn't make their pressure tell and Finchley soon punished the visitors with a well worked opening try, then followed it with a second with some sublime backline play. Datchworth seemed to have the territorial advantage throughout the first half and despite a much improved set piece, couldn't find the final pass and went in at half time 15-0 down.
Finchley continued their impressive finishing in the second half and despite a well deserved try by Datchworth centre Henry Mountain, the boys in green ended up losing by 30 points. A break from the league next week for Datchworth however as they host Tabard in the County Cup.
