Fullerians 10 - 16 Datchworth

After the previous weeks defeat, Datch had a lot to prove going into the game against Fullerians. The game was scheduled as a home game for Fullerians but due to the inclement weather, their pitch was waterlogged and the game was moved to Datch.

The game started fiercely with Fullerians dominating the scrum from the outset and putting the home side on the back foot. This pressure was giving Fullers momentum and quick recycling at the ruck saw the away sides Centre cross the line after 10 minutes.

This spurred Datchworth into action and the Datch front row started to steady the scrums giving Number 8 Stuart Young the perfect platform to break away. A strong run up the pitch combined with some excellent carrying from Centre pair Henry Mountain and Matt Winter eventually lead to a Datchworth try, finished by Matt Francis (captain).

From then on Datch were in control of the game and early on in the second half Paul Broadwood crossed the line at the back of a rolling maul from a stolen Fullerians lineout. The score now at 10-5 Datch felt confident they would win the game, however a lapse in concentration gave Fullers all they needed to break the line and score in the corner levelling the game 10-10.

Datchworth have been known to panic in these situations and make risky decisions that can loose games, however, Datchworth's resolve held and stuck to their game plan and went on to take 2 penalties winning the game 16-10, slotted well by scrum half Tom Wood.

Datch face league leaders Grasshoppers next week as home.
