• Try Scorers: Tommy x2 / Benji x1 / Nathan x 1
• Conversions James x2 Edward x 1
It would not be a fixture against Hertford if there were not some controversies surrounding the referee and some very aggressive challenges. And most of those challenges were from the spectators. This was a Datchworth performance for the ages. Hertford undoubtedly rocked up
expecting a bit of a walk in the park. They were very much mistaken. The first 10 minutes Datchworth dominated possession with some heavy carries. They soon found themselves over the try line and scored under the posts. Unfortunately, we couldn’t manage the conversion and
Hertford soon bounced back. Indeed, during the course of a frenetic 60 minutes, it was very hard to keep any track of the score. The consensus was this was a well-deserved draw at 26 all, with two tries from Tommy, one from Benji, one from Nathan, two conversions from James and one
from Edward. But the score and the scorers were almost an irrelevance compared to the strength of this team performance.
Memorable highlights included: 2 x Try Saving tackles from Tyler; 1 x Step of the Century from Nathan, some unbelievable carrying from Aiden, Oli and Tommy. Idrak was great throughout. Nico had a strong debut; James B put in some formidable tackles but his main contribution was the
coordination of the back line, until he managed to really put his body on the line and had to come off. Ilan did the same although thankfully without any injury. Benji’s captaincy was magnificent.
Harry from Stevenage was brilliant and Kai as our new full-back looked assured and strong. The u14s lads that stepped in didn’t give an inch. Our scrum was too powerful and so had to go uncontested for safety this was a fantastic team effort. Up with the mighty Green Army.
