From the kick off Datchworth showed attacking intent and only some excellent defending by Hitchin stopped the greens from taking an early lead. However the deadlock was broken when Gethin Wynne benefitted from a driving maul and crashed over for the opening score which set the tone for his Man of the Match performance.

Datchworth soon added a second when Maxwell Imina took a wide ball and typically evaded the covering defender to dot down wide on the left for Ben Palmer to slot the extras.

Hitchin were working hard and threatening to make a comeback into the game when Alex Lloyd -Williams went on one of his rampaging runs through the heart of the Hitchin defence to pop up a ball to James Wilson supporting at speed to go over for the try with Palmer adding the extra 2 points.

Again refusing to be beaten Hitchin came back well and built a long attack and finally went over out wide but missed the conversion.

It was then that Datchworth closed out the game with Owen MacGillivray pouncing on a loose pass and sprinting clear from halfway to seal the win and again Palmer added the extras, then further tries from Palmer and another for Wynne opening a significant winning margin giving Datchworth the bonus point win and the visitors leaving with nothing.

The u17s travel to Barnet on the 3rd Feb for their final league game of the season.
