The u17’s hosted Ongar and ran out 38 -10 winners.
Datchworth managed to put together enough quality phases of play studded with some fine individual skills to run out comfortable winners in this home friendly.
However Datchworth stuttered after scoring very early on and it was the visitors who came back to put pressure on the Datchworth line that called for some strong defence.
Ongar caused Datchworth problems throughout the morning particularly out wide with good pace and use of space but ultimately Datchworth were able to control the game with plenty of possession and Dominic Negri roaring back to form with 4 tries, with Owen Macgillivray and Maxwell Imina chipping in with one apiece and Ben Palmer with 4 conversions, ably supported by a fine performance from Robbie Kirby.
Next week the u17’s host Hitchin in a huge league game 11.00 kick off.
