U17’s out of the Cup

The u17’s lost to Old Albanians 25-17 in a tight game yesterday.

Datchworth were able to match Albanians throughout the game but it was Albanians who managed to make the most of their opportunities to win the Herts County Cup Semi Final yesterday. Albanians were always up in the game but unable to put Datchworth away and it was the men in Green who had the majority of possession.

Man of the match Gethin Wynne typifying the effort of the whole squad carrying hard throughout the game and putting in some crunching hits.

The class moment of the match came when James Wilson received a wide ball found an outside shoulder and put in a deft grubber kick to round the last defender and outpace the cover to touch down to give Datchworth their first try of the match.

Another came through some hard yards put in by the forwards with Dominic Negri crashing over, then in the final minutes with Datchworth pushing hard George Little put a diagonal kick into the corner for Theo Wise to outsprint the defence and dot down.

Datch may have even come closer to the win where on another a day more pressure may have yielded a score and have been awarded a penalty try for a yellow card high tackle but it wasn’t to be, as Albanians took the victory in the competitive yet well spirited game.
