After a long Journey over to Amersham we were all a bit slow to get changed and get warmed up and as a consequence we were very slow of the blocks and conceded a try after about 10 mins. Despite Luke Bennetts successful penalty we never really threatened and by half time we had conceded a further three trys which left the score at 24-3
It was clear that their number 12 was running the show and when Steve Turley had the foresight to drop out from flanker and double up the defence on the inside centre we managed to hold them back and then we were able to press forward.
We were rewarded for our efforts when Will Gymer ran over for a try and a later push over try by Owen Davis and a great "pick and go " try by Turley got us right back into the game. Two conversions by Luke brought the scores to within 2 points but we run out of time and Amersham ended up eventual winners.
The game was played in good spirit and we look forward to Amersham coming to us later in the season. Although defeated we took heart in the fact that we managed to get a full side and a sub on a long away game and the that we won the second half 19-0
