The U15’s went to Cheshunt to play a combined A/B side on a wet and cold morning. Datchworth played against a considerable slope in the first half and put in one of their best performances of the year turning round at Half time 14 – 0 to the good. Outstanding continuity and handling belied the conditions with Theo Wise and George Little crossing the line following sustained pressure, and James Hunter adding the conversions.
In the second half Datchworth pressed home the advantage and despite some very spirited play by the home team Datchworth added further tries from James Hunter crashing over from short range and Dominic Lant arriving at the end of a passage of play on time to outstrip the defence and go over in the corner, Dominic’s only display of good time keeping on the day!!
The Champagne moment was awarded to George Little who stepped and raced clear, stepped the last defender and with a trademark one handed offload put Theo Wise under the posts. The man of the match was awarded jointly to the second row engine room of Ben Conquest stepping up in his role of Vice Captain and Connor Harris who continues to impress all round the field and who carried the ball aggressively all day.
Next Week the under 15’s travel to Camelot for the County Cup.
