The u15’s went over to Hitchin for a friendly and put in a performance to be proud of against league 2 opposition. The two teams played the game in a fantastic spirit which was divided into quarters, Hitchin taking an early advantage however Dominic Negri crossing the line to round off a fine passage of play & cut the deficit.
Datchworth’s front row of Dean Carmichael, Sam Elvery, and Aaron Livingstone were outstanding all day with a combination of turnovers, speed and power that at times was inspiring and capped by an individual burst from Sam Elvery taking him clear from the half way line and outpacing the Hitchin defenders.
However the home side showed why they are two leagues above Datch taking a convincing lead into the final quarter only for Datchworth to come back hard with the game ending with further tries for Christopher Saunders(2), George Little, and TJ woods who also made 4 one on one tackles which if missed would have been certain tries.
Datchworth who were captained by Finton O’Beirne playing his last game since starting in the under 7’s truly sending him off in style with a fine performance that will be remembered as will the O’Beirnes contribution to the side and club over the last 8 years.
