The u15’s hosted Saracens B in a top of the table clash and ran out 32 – 7 winners to secure top spot in Herts Middx 4.
Losing the toss an facing a strong wind the visitors started well and carried hard retaining possession but the Datchworth defence was strong and after the even opening ,Datchworth were rewarded with an opening try worthy of the match, the ball was moved wide ,Owen MacGillivray with a trademark show and go followed by a perfect pass, that earned the parents Champagne moment award, to put the impressive Dominic Lant over in the corner.
The Datchworth forwards were intent on giving the visitors no ground and made tackle after tackle and again Datchworth scored, Theo Wise again a constant threat giving Datchworth a 10 – 0 lead, this was cut to 10 – 7 with Saracens crashing over from short range from a scrum following a stray pass which caught in the troublesome wind.
In the second half the home side dominated and were able to stretch the lead and keep the visitors out throughout the half, when in trouble Datchworth were able to carry the ball well Dominic Negri, Theo Wise, Dominic Lant & James Hunter all made telling contributions culminating in each of them crossing the try line .
Man of the Match, Arron King lead a defence that gave the opposition no encouragement when they had the ball.
The bonus point win means Datchworth win the league and can look forward to the away trip to Hertford in 2 weeks intent on maintaining a perfect league season.
