A great revenge result for the Green Army. A tight hard game against a well matched opposition.

The first half was an extremely hard fought affair as both teams tried their hardest to punch a way through hard working defensive lines from both sides. Neither side could exert any control or dominance. Territory and possession were shared between both sides. The tackling, handling and support from both sides was excellent.

In the second half, our referee ensured that both sides stuck to the ' every player gets at least half a game ' rule, and due to our stronger bench, Datchworth began to exert a bit of control. With the wind at our backs we began to kick for territory, and but pressure on Verulamians ball. When in possession Datchworth drove with purpose and support and began to pass the ball well. The result was 14 unanswered points, and a superb defensive effort that kept Verulamians camped in their own half.

A great effort from every single player today. Every boy made an effort. Those that were subs kept their eye on the game and passed on advice as they could. A comment from the ref, was that he could hear Datchworth players calling to the ball carrier as to whether they should keep driving or go to ground, so the boys are learning to communicate.
