Ealing B (0) 0 v. 73 (51) Datchworth U-15
Little more than an extended training run for the U-15 Green Army today, as they put Ealing B to the sword. The scrum again proved a dominant weapon and the forwards were able to punch holes through Ealing almost at will. This week the forwards were not allowed to get too ambitious, and the ball was spread to the backs who made the most of the front foot ball they were given. The fact that 9 of out 12 tries were scored by the backs, several scored out wide, shows how the backs moved the ball.
Having scored at will in the first half, Datch tried some different moves in the second, including a cheeky drop goal.
To their immense credit, Ealing kept on trying throughout the game, and as the Datchworth forwards tired in the fourth quarter, Ealing were able to put together multiple phases of possession, and moved the ball well through their backs.
Overall a good start to our league campaign, but we look forward to tougher opposition to come.
Man of the Match: Jack B for overall effort, and great presentation of the ball.
DotD: Logan, for catching a ball from a restart, and promptly dropping it.
